DTBST # 157 - Holiday Thank You

Hello, my friends!  I hope you had a wonderful holiday, whatever you celebrate!  As I'm writing this a few weeks before it's published (so I can have more cuddle time with the new baby when he arrives), I don't know how my holiday was...but I'm sure it was fabulous!  =D

Anyway, the reason I'm posting today: it's time for a new Dare to Be Sassy Thursday challenge over at Sassy Studio Designs!  Woot woot!  This week the challenge is:

Holiday Thank You!

I know I always have so much to be thankful for, all year 'round, but especially during the holiday season.  I have warm food in my belly, a roof over my head, a job, and the love of many wonderful family and friends...I am truly blessed.  It's good to remember to give thanks for all the blessings in my life.

Here is my thank you card:

I recently purchased my first Sizzix flip die, and was so excited to try it out.  I'm really happy with the end result!  I used Reindeer Pin Up from the recently released Pin Up Line (shocker, right?), which is available right now in the store.  My papers are from Stampin' Up, and the roses are from Wild Orchid.

Ok, ready to play along?  Head on over to the Sassy Studio Designs Blog to see what the other Sassy Sisters came up with and to link up your cards.  I hope to see you participating!  Thanks for stopping by! Oh, and if I don't "see" you before the new year...make sure be safe!

Baby Bear

Hey everyone!!  Sorry I've been a little absent recently, but baby bear has finally arrived!  =D  He was born a couple of weeks ago, and this is the first chance I've really had to get on the computer.  Here's a couple of pictures!

I hope you all had a fabulous holiday!  Have a happy and safe New Year, and we'll be seeing you soon!  =D

DTBST # 156 - Blue Christmas

Good morning, my friends!  Are you enjoying the holiday season?  I know I am!  I love spending time with my family, and I really love giving presents, so this is a great time of year for me.

Anyway, the reason I'm posting today: it's time for a new Dare to Be Sassy Thursday challenge over at Sassy Studio Designs!  Woot woot!  This week the challenge is:

Blue Christmas!

I love using blue for my holiday cards. It gets so cold up here in Minnesota during the winter, icy blues definitely feel authentic.  I would love to be able to have a warm, sunshine-y Christmas...but all of our family lives up here in the cold, so here we stay. LOL

Here is my blue card:

Now, if you know me you know how much I love my punches.  I used my Martha Stewart snowflake punches, and I was SO excited to be able to use my new Creative Memories tag punch!  I created this card the day I got the punch because I wanted to use it so badly. LOL Papers are from DCWV.  The image is, of course, from the recently released Pin Up line (I just LOVE these images!).  It's Snowman Pin Up and is available in the store.

Ok, ready to play along?  Head on over to the Sassy Studio Designs Blog to see what the other Sassy Sisters came up with and to link up your cards.  I hope to see you participating!  Thanks for stopping by!

DTBST # 155 - Sketch

Hello, my friends!  I'm writing this post early, on Monday the 10th, hoping that I'll be in the hospital welcoming my new baby boy by the time the new challenge date rolls around.  Hopefully Blogger cooperates and this posts on time!

Anyway, the reason I'm posting today: it's time for a new Dare to Be Sassy Thursday challenge over at Sassy Studio Designs!  Woot woot!  This week the challenge is:

A Sketch!

That's right, we have another fabulous sketch by our lovely Sassy Sister Kathy Curry!  I just love her sketches, don't you?  She does an *awesome* job!  =D  Here is this week's sketch:

And here is my card:

Of course, with the holidays coming up SO SOON, you know I had to create another Christmas card.  Even though I think I may be done for this year, I always have next year to get started on.  =D  I used the fabulous Santa Pin Up from the newly released Pin Up line, available in the store.  Papers are from DCWV, and gems are from Archiver's (sorry, I can't remember the brand). Flowers were from my stash.

Ok, ready to play along?  Head on over to the Sassy Studio Designs Blog to see what the other Sassy Sisters came up with and to link up your cards.  I hope to see you participating!  Thanks for stopping by!

DTBST #154

Hello, my friends!  I know I've been pretty quiet lately..sorry!  I'm really trying to get everything ready for this baby.  6 days until my due date (as I write this on Monday night), and I'm so anxious! I cannot WAIT to meet this child!  =D

Anyway, the reason I'm posting today: it's time for a new Dare to Be Sassy Thursday challenge over at Sassy Studio Designs!  Woot woot!  This week the challenge is:

Let's Celebrate!

That's right, we want to see cards celebrating something.  It could be a birthday, an anniversary, a graduation...any kind of celebration!  Get creative with it.  I know, easier to say than do, right?  For myself, I did not get creative.  However, with the holiday season fast approaching, I figured it was the perfect time to create a card for celebrating Christmas.

I made this one for my hubby.  The inside says "I can get you on the naughty list." LOL!  I think he'll like it.  I used the fabulous new All Wrapped Up, available in the store.  I just love these new pin ups, don't you? =D

Ok, ready to play along?  Head on over to the Sassy Studio Designs Blog to see what the other Sassy Sisters came up with and to link up your cards.  I hope to see you participating!  Thanks for stopping by!

Now, on a sad note, I created this card using December's Sketch for You To Try from i{heart}to stamp

dec2012sketch

No, that's not the sad part.  The sad part is it's not only the final sketch for the year, but it's also the final sketch ever...at least for the foreseeable future.  This is a fabulous blog, and I will dearly miss their sketches. I was able to play along with every sketch this year, which was a major accomplishment for me.  =D  Here are the links to my previous cards for the year.

I'll miss you, SFYTT!

The Joy of Giving - Day 1

Hey y'all!  Welcome to Sassy Studio Design's Joy of Giving release!  Lindsay has come up with some fabulous new holiday images.  This month instead of doing a blog hop we are doing a fun little challenge.  What's the challenge?

Vintage or Shabby Chic

How fun is that?  Meet All Wrapped Up!

I just love the pin-up style of this image!  I decided to try an old, vintage black and white pin up photo look for my card.  What do you think?  This is only the second time I've tried to color in black and white...I think it turned out pretty good.  =D

Want to see the other images being released?  (Trust me, you do!) Head on over to the SSD blog and check out the creations by more of the DT.  Then tomorrow the rest of the DT will post their images and the challenge link will be on the SSD blog. Have a fabulous weekend and I hope to see you in the challenge!

Happy Birthday Candy

This is a sticky post until 11/15/12  For newer posts, please scroll down.

For the 50 Shades of Sassy blog hop, please click HERE.

Hello my darlings!  Sorry I haven't been around all that much lately, this baby is just sucking the life right out of me.  All I do is work and sleep! LOL  It will all be worth it, though.

Anyway, big news...today (Oct. 23) is my 30th birthday!  Gosh, it seems so crazy.  I can't believe I'm already 30.  Can anyone tell me when I'll start to feel like an adult?  =D  Besides that, during the past few months I've actually reached and surpassed 200 followers!  To me, that is just insane.  I love it, and I love you all for your sweet comments and thoughts and basically just thinking that what I create and write is worth sharing.  It really does make me feel so special when I read your sweet words, and it encourages me to keep creating.

So, to celebrate all of this fun (as well as my 2ND BLOGAVERSARY on November 7th...has it really been that long?!?) I have decided to give away some blog candy!  Now, since I'm writing this at work (shh! don't tell!!) I don't exactly know what is going to be part of the candy yet...but I can tell you it will be fabulous!  I'll put a picture of it up as soon as I gather everything.

So, what do you need to do to win?  Easy peasy!

1. Be a follower of my blog.
2. Leave a comment on this post.

That's it!  I'll keep this open until 11/15/12 at midnight Central time, and this post will stay at the top until the deadline.  Good luck, and thank you for all that you do!  You are appreciated!

SSD Sponsorships

Hello my lovelies!  I am here to share some new Sassy Studio Design sponsorships with you.  Now, these challenges all actually started earlier today, but I've got total pregnancy brain and thought today was the 11th.  Imagine my consternation when I got to work today and realized it was the 12th and I had not yet finished my sample!!  I couldn't believe I missed the deadline.  At least I'm getting it posted on the 12th...just a little (okay, a lot) late.  Sorry, and thank you for bearing with me!

Anyway, Sassy Studio Designs is sponsoring FOUR challenges starting today!  Crazy, right?  How much fun to be able to do FOUR challenges with one card!!  Ready to see what they are?

Gotta love those anything goes challenges!  =D  Here's my sample:

I used the fab Sassy Showgirl, available in the store.  Now, I swear that the paper with the fancy edges is actually a dirty olive green, but it looks brown in this picture!  As for the recycling part of the challenge...see that fun striped paper?  Well, it's actually the side of a kleenex box!  Yes, one of my new favorite things to do is buy pretty kleenex boxes so that when I'm finished with the tissues I can use the box as design paper.  Here's a tip though...they don't work with punches very well.  At least not lacy, intricate ones! LOL

Ok, ready to play along?  Head over to the challenge blog for inspiration from their DT.  Want some more fabulous Sassy inspiration?  Head on over to the Sassy Studio Designs blog to see some more examples.  They are fabulous, you don't want to miss them!  Meanwhile, I'm going to get some sleep so I (hopefully) don't miss my next deadline!!  Thanks for stopping by!

Challenges:
Lady Anne's Challenges -  Anything Goes
Artistic Inspirations - Recycle
Love to Create - Fancy Edges
Tammy's Scrapin Corner - Anything Goes

SSD Sponsors Clear It Out

Hello, and happy Tuesday!  Today starts another challenge that Sassy Studio Designs is sponsoring.  This week, we are sponsoring Clear it Out with an Anything Goes challenge where the item that you're clearing out is red. (Clearing out means use something from your stash.)

I used the lovely Sexy Santa, available in the store.  My "clear it out" part is the red snowflake paper from We R Memory Keepers, which is the first pack of Christmas paper I ever bought, and the circular embellishments, which are so old I don't even remember what company they're from!

Ok, ready to play along?  Head over to the challenge blog for inspiration from their DT.  Want some more fabulous Sassy inspiration?  Head on over to the Sassy Studio Designs blog to see some more examples.  They are fabulous, you don't want to miss them!

50 Shades of Sassy

Hello, and welcome to the 50 Shades of Sassy blog hop!  If you got here from the lovely Rebecca, you are right on track.  (Isn't her coloring AMAZING?)  If you just stumbled upon my post, head on over to the Sassy Studio Designs blog to start the hop. We are having this hop to celebrate Sassy Studio Designs reaching 800 members over on our Paper Craft Planet group.  800 members...how cool is that?!?

As part of our celebration, Lindsay is being SO generous and giving away a new image, inspired by the 50 Shades of Grey phenomenon. Meet....Shady Sassy!!

I made this card for my hubby's birthday.  Now, I haven't read the 50 Shades books yet, but I've heard much about them.  I decided to include some...spicy...coupons as his present.  I figured that went along with the theme pretty well.  =D

Now for the details of the celebration.  To get this fabulous image, head on over to the SSD Paper Craft Planet group.  (If you are not yet a member of PCP, it's quick and easy to join!)  The image will be available for one week, until 11:59pm PDT on 11/10/12.  There is also a challenge over on the Sassy Studio Design blog.  To participate in the challenge, you must create a project in shades of black, white and grey only. (The image may be colored, but that's it.) You must use an SSD image to play, and if you use Shady Sassy you will also get Lingerie Lindsay emailed to you for FREE. (That's TWO free images!)  The challenge will also be open for one week, ending at 11:59 pm PDT on 11/10/12.

Now for the prizes!  Two randomly selected commenters from the blog hop will win two images of their choice.  A random entry from the challenge will win two images from the November release.  The GRAND PRIZE from the challenge, picked by the DT, will be ALL the images from the November release and a GDT spot for Freebie Fridays in November on the Paper Craft Planet group.

It's time to head on over to the talented Carrie's blog... Here's the hop order, so make sure you hit every stop to increase your chances of winning!  Thanks so much for stopping by, and I really hope to see you entering the challenge!

SSD Sponsorships

Good morning, sunshines, and welcome to a brand new week!  I hope you're all having a fabulous weekend.  Well, it's time for more Sassy Studio Design sponsorships.  Yay!!  This week we are sponsoring Crafting When We Can with the theme of "Countries" and The Corrosive Challenge with "Know When to Fold 'Em".  What exactly do those mean, you ask?  Well, for the Countries theme, you pick a country and use that country's flag's colors for your card.  For the Fold 'Em, the Corrosive DT want to see cards with more than one fold.

Now, I know that Halloween is coming up this Wednesday, and trust me...no one is more excited than I am. However, I decided to switch gears a little and get another Christmas card done.

I chose Russia as my country so I could use the adorable Russia Honey, available in the store, to make this simple gate-fold card.  You know, it's funny but I never realized how many countries use the colors red, white and blue for their flag until I tried to do this challenge. It seems like every country I thought about using had the same colors!  =D

Ready to play along?  Head over to the challenge blogs for inspiration from their DTs.  Want some more fabulous Sassy inspiration?  Head on over to the Sassy Studio Designs blog to see what the rest of the Sponsorship team has created.  They are fabulous, you don't want to miss them!

SSD October Release

Hi, and welcome to the Sassy Studio Designs Halloween Blog Hop!  You should have arrived here from the lovely Ruza's blog.  Wasn't her project wonderful?  If you've just stumbled upon this post, make sure to head back to the start at the SSD Blog so you don't miss out on anything!  The whole blog hop order is listed there in case you get lost.

Well, as you probably know by now, the talented Lindsay of Sassy Studio Designs is releasing some very fabulous Halloween images this weekend!  To celebrate, we are having a blog hop and challenge.  What's the challenge?  Halloween bingo!  Oh, I just love bingo, don't you?  Here's the fabulous bingo board created by our very own Kim.

For my card, I chose to use the first line.  I had a fantastic die from Spellbinders with a fence and ravens that I couldn't wait to use.

I got to play with the fabulous Grim Reaper.  Isn't she spooky?  I LOVE her tattered dress.

Now you're almost finished with the hop!  Your final stop today is back at the SSD Blog.  I hope you remembered to leave a comment on each DT member's blog today...you never know which blog comment will win a new SSD image!  Don't forget to come back tomorrow for Day 2 of the hop!  Also, I really hope you'll be playing along with our Halloween Bingo challenge.  Plus, we're having a chat tonight on the SSD Party Blog at 6 pm PST (9pm EST).  Come by and tell us what you thought of the hop!

Good morning my lovelies!  Happy Friday to you!  I do hope you have plans for a fun weekend.  Tonight we're throwing a surprise birthday party for a friend, then on Sunday DH and I are rearranging our furniture to fit the baby stuff in.  Yay!!  Are you going to make time to craft this weekend?

Well, why don't I help you with that?  Today starts the Sassy Studio Designs sponsorship of the Brown Sugar Challenge Blog.  Woo  hoo!  What's the challenge?  Being October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, it is...

I just love ATC's, don't you?  They seem like they should be so simple because they're so small...but it's almost harder for me! lol

Here's my ATC using the lovely Miranda Sassy from our Sassy in the City release.  I just thought she would be perfect with her showing off her...assets.  =D  She is currently available in the store.

SSD Sponsors Tuesday Alchemy and Tuesday Morning Sketches

Good morning, lovelies! Well, I'm back on the Sponsorship team for Sassy Studio Designs for the next couple of months.  Yay!  I am having SO much fun.  Today we have two, count them TWO, challenges we are sponsoring!  Woo hoo!

The first one is Tuesday Alchemy, with an Anything Goes challenge!

The second is Tuesday Morning Sketches, with this fabulous sketch:

Super cute, right?  They also have a twist...the letter "E".

I used the lovely Sassy Leia from last month's Halloween release.  (She is available at the Sassy Studio Designs store.)  I thought she would be just perfect with one of the sentiments from Freebie Friday on Papercraft Planet a couple of weeks ago.  Voila, a Breast Cancer awareness card!  =D  As many of you know, this is one of the main causes I support and raise funds for. Luckily, no one in my life so far has had to fight this horrible disease.  So when I make my BCA cards, I donate them to my friend's mom who does frequent card drives (and other fundraisers) for BCA.

As for the letter "E" twist, I heard about it a little late.  But let's go with EDGING (the gold and the stickles) and ELECTRIC (laser guns are electric, right? lol), and ELSEWHERE (because Princess Leia is from a galaxy far, far away...or is that Star Trek?).

Want to play along?  Head over to the challenge blogs for inspiration from their DTs.  Want some more fabulous Sassy inspiration?  Head on over to the Sassy Studio Designs blog to see what the rest of the Sponsorship team has created.  They are fabulous, you don't want to miss them!  Plus, say hello to some of the new Sassy girls!

Don't forget, SSD is having a new release this weekend, with a blog hop starting on Saturday.  Trust me, you do NOT want to miss these new images...they are SO FUN! We'll be splitting up the hop into two days again, half on Saturday and half on Sunday, so make sure to come by both days for more chances to win!

Challenges:
Tuesday Alchemy: Anything Goes
Tuesday Morning Sketches: Sketch
Tuesday Morning Sketches: Virtual Birthday/BCA Party
Link Up For Pink: Breast Cancer Awareness
Art Impressions Stamps: Pink for Breast Cancer
Dream Valley Challenges: Go Pink - Breast Cancer Awareness

Don't you just LOVE that sentiment?  Hilarious!  =D  Light pink paper is from DCWV's Sweet Stack, and the word paper is from Archiver's. (Sorry, I don't remember the company.) Gems are from JoAnn Fabrics.  Image colored with Copics.  (I know, you're shocked, right??  LOL)

Not only is there a new image, but there's a new challenge, too!  This fortnight the challenge is:

You should have arrived here from the talented Soma's blog.  Didn't you just LOVE her creation??  She's so fantastic at using those bright colors.

SSD is releasing a whopping 12 images this weekend...how amazing is that?!?  I've made three Halloween treat boxes to celebrate my FAVORITE holiday.  (I always try to give Halloween treats to my coworkers.)  Here they are!

 Sassy Fallen Angel

And the box top:

 Sassy Showgirl

And the box top:

 Finally, Good vs. Evil:

SSD Freebie Friday - Fall Fun

Hey y'all, happy Friday!  I am so excited that it's almost the weekend.  So much to do!  Tomorrow I'm finally going to graph out the bedroom so I can see how to rearrange furniture to fit Bean's crib and other stuff.  Fun stuff, right?

Plus, you know what Friday means......Fabulous Freebie Friday over at the Sassy Studio Designs Paper Craft Planet group!  Oh yeah!  Here's Fall Fun:

Isn't that a fun little scene? I used to love playing in the leaves when I was a kid.  Unfortunately, I can't remember where the paper came from. I think it's BoBunny, but don't quote me.  If you really want to know, say so in the comment and I'll try to find out.  I ended up purchasing the paper while at a crop so I could make this card.  Considering Halloween is my favorite holiday, I have a surprising lack of orange paper in my stash.  =D  Leaves and "Fall Fun" embellie are also from my stash, image colored with Copics and eyes highlighted with Crystal Effects.

Don't forget, the challenge is still:

Orange You Glad It's Fall?

Orange should be the primary color.  You can use a maximum of three other colors, not including neutrals (white, black, brown, grey, kraft), which can be used as desired.

You still have a week to participate in the challenge! Want some more inspiration? Why don't you head on over to the group to see the rest of the DT's projects, grab today's freebie, and join in?

Remember the freebie's only available for 24 hours, so hurry on over!  Just look for the discussion with today's date. Not a member of Paper Craft Planet yet?  It's easy and free to join.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope to see you over there!

On a side note, don't forget that Sassy Studio Designs is having a release this weekend!  Instead of the whole team doing a hop on Saturday, we're splitting it up.  Half the DT will be in a hop on Saturday, and the other half will be in a hop on Sunday.  Make sure to stop by, leave some love, and possibly win some prizes!

SSD Freebie Friday - Pin-Up Teacher

Hey y'all, happy Friday!  Man, I'm so glad it's Friday.  This week has just been crawling by, and I'm SO glad it's finally over.  =D  Plus, lots of fun happening this weekend.  Helping my mom out with a jewelry class (she recently had surgery on her left wrist, so needs an extra set of hands).  Then we're measuring my bedroom and furniture so I can graph a sketch and figure out some furniture rearrangements. I'm super excited.

Plus, you know what Friday means......Fabulous Freebie Friday over at the Sassy Studio Designs Paper Craft Planet group!  Oh yeah!  Usually the freebies are retired images that we re-release for only 24 hours.  However, this week....it's a BRAND NEW IMAGE!  How exciting is that?  Meet our new Pin-Up Teacher:

Isn't she a doll?  Great for coloring, and I think her outfit is perfect for paper piecing.  I can't wait to give it a try!  She was colored with Copics, then Glossy Accents were added to her glasses.  The orange paper is from Authentique.  I just love their Halloween papers.  The brown paper is a prefolded A2 card from Archiver's (part of a set I won last year at Crop Around Town during Scrapfest).  The sentiment is a sticker from my stash.  Gems from my stash.  Lacy punch by Martha Stewart.

Not only is there a new image, but there's a new challenge, too!  This fortnight the challenge is:

Orange You Glad It's Fall?

Orange should be the primary color.  You can use a maximum of three other colors, not including neutrals (white, black, brown, grey, kraft), which can be used as desired.

Want some more inspiration? Why don't you head on over to the group to see the rest of the DT's projects, grab today's freebie, and join in the challenge?

Remember the freebie's only available for 24 hours, so hurry on over!  Just look for the discussion with today's date. Not a member of Paper Craft Planet yet?  It's easy and free to join.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope to see you over there!

Digi Doodle Shop #125

Well, y'all, I'm sorry to say it's time for the final Digi Doodle Shop challenge.  I just adore this shop and these ladies, and will sorely miss working with them and these fabulous images.  For our final challenge, it's

Anything Goes!

That's right, anything goes, and this challenge will be open for (2) weeks.  You have until 9/26/12 to enter this final challenge.

I used Snow Bunnies, available in the Winter section of the Seasonal category in the store.  This is one of my absolute favorite images from DDS.  Those bunnies are just so darn cute!  The image was colored with Copics, then Stickles were added to the edges of the snow to give it that winter sparkle.  Papers are from DCWV, the snowflake border I created using a Martha Stewart punch, gems are from my stash and the sentiment is a new Hero Arts clear stamp.

Want some more inspiration?  Head on over to the Digi Doodle Shop challenge blog to see the beautiful creations by the rest of the team.

I really hope y'all will play along with this final challenge.  There will be three winners:
1st Place - $15 gift certificate
2nd Place - $10 gift certificate
3rd Place - $5 gift certificate

Also, don't forget...all images are only $1 until the store closes on September 30th.  (That will make those gift certificates stretch even further!)

If you do decide to purchase some images, please mention my name (Starla) in the special instructions section.  I would very much appreciate it!  =D

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope to see your creations in our final challenge.

Sad News...

Hey y'all.  Well, I'm here today to bring you some sad news.  As you all know I have been on the Design Team for Digi Doodle Shop for about a year now, and I have loved their stamps for much longer than that.  After thinking long and hard, Digi Doodle Shop has decided to close their doors as of October 1st.  I know that many of you are fans of theirs as much as I am and will miss them sorely.

However, along with the sad news, there is some good.  From now until September 30th all Digi Doodle Shop stamps will be only $1.  That's right, just $1!  That is QUITE a steal for these gorgeous images.  Head on over to the Digi Doodle Shop store to stock up now.

If you do decide to stock up, please feel free to mention my name (Starla) in the Special Instructions column.  You don't have to, but if you do I'll be getting some free stamps, and I'll be eternally grateful.  =D  No matter what, please head on over and stock up on all the images you want before it's too late.

Hugs!!
